Something

Has any individual seen a "billboard" advertisement for a local casino?  They sometimes mention a percentage of "something" that is "returned" to patrons of the casino.

It may or may not be clear what the "something" is.  Does it include losses or wins from cash or "free play"?

It's a "feature" of the "slot machines" or system which makes it possible.  How it works is secret or backward.

We can only guess that:
  • "'Slot machines' do or don't 'pay out' intermittently or randomly."
They can or can't.

Therefore, the percentage of "something" returned to patrons never exceeds or "falls short" of expectations.  There's no way for that to happen.  It also leaves no need or want to adjust the "cut" to be less or more "fair".

Backward or "it's none of your business".
