Simulates Psychosis (Schizophrenia)
For years people have talked about experiences where it seemed mind reading or mind control was at work.
Curiously they had been visited by disembodied voice, angels, demons, even aliens, each with a particular story and reason for contacting them.
Its a con. These people almost certainly did experience this, but it wasn't what they were led to believe.
How to tell if you've been targeted and it's not a psychosis (namely schizophrenia):
- Single individual living alone
- Older and/or less familiar with technology
- Have disposable income/wealth - especially the appearance of it
- Family members don't live in the immediate area
- Could be considered socially undesirable
If what you're are experiencing includes hearing voices (schizophrenia) here are some phrases that could be red flags (you might notice theme):
- "what if he can't hear us anymore?"
- "then we'll start over"
- "who is it?" "it's [Your Name Here]"
- "you're not the first person i've done this too and i've never been caught"
- "here's how it's going to go down"
- "you're gonna give us something we can use against you"
- "how did we know that? you told us!"
- "it's all in your head"
- "we're gonna have to investigate that"
- "pick one!", "choose one!", "which one?"
- "are you telling me....?"
You might also begin experiencing a recurring tinnitus while hearing voices. The ringing or buzzing can vary from person to person but its associated with hearing loss - a very specific one in this case.
Another red flag is the voices going by or referring to each other with names of you're own family members. This can create a problem that sneaks up on you as you won't be able to have the simplest of conversations about what you're hearing without sounding like you're accusing family members.
In case you're wondering who might be attempting this con, here are 5 things the police wouldn't do:
- Induce a tinnitus that could cause normal audible voices to seem like schizophrenia.
- Use a parametric (directive) speaker to project voices to seem like schizophrenia.
- Take advantage of a person's suggestibility and use hypnosis or hypnosis like techniques to approximate schizophrenia.
- They wouldn't do any of the things above and then tell the person they had schizophrenia.
- And they wouldn't do any of the things above then tell the person that "you're gonna give us something we can use against you" or similar.
I don't see a need to explain why the police wouldn't do any of those things.
But I would very much like to know who would...
